Capacity Building Training for UWT Women on Political Participation

Supporting Women in Politics through Entrepreneurship
On June 18, 2022, Suma Stephen Mwaitenda led a special training session aimed at building the capacity of women leaders within the Umoja wa Wanawake Tanzania (UWT), specifically targeting Regional Secretaries and Chairs from across the country.
The training was organized by the UWT National Office in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES). It focused on equipping women with the skills to leverage entrepreneurship and economic opportunities as a means of strengthening their participation in politics and leadership. During the training, participants learned:
- Social entrepreneurship strategies for women in both urban and rural areas
- Self-awareness and confidence-building for female leaders
- Advocacy strategies within political and decision-making spaces
- Economic networking within the party to support women’s welfare and leadership ambitions
This training remains a landmark in UWT’s efforts to prepare and empower women for leadership and national-level decision-making roles.
